Lost Wages brought me to Lost Wages, NV…
Hotel-Airport-Strip-Hotel
Vegas, a
whole other world… And with the merry band that was gathering, it even got
stranger.
But first I
need to talk about my Elvis want-a-be at the Stratosphere. Ok, I not too much
to say about an Elvis who can’t make it in Vegas… Why else would he be working
behind the counter at a hotel? He needs a little more mutton chops, his hair
has more oil than a Texas gusher, hips couldn’t stop whatever they were doing,
and when he say “that’s all right” it was tough not to laugh out loud… He
checked me in with pre-paid rooms and no changes in the same time the other
clerks checked in 3 parties each. I guess he keeps audience captive in a
different way.
Back to the
more worth while sights and over to airport. The flight from North Dakota via
MSP and Salt Lake City was a little late even for a late flight. But Dad and
Mom didn’t look worse for their travels. Once in the terminal, Mom didn’t even
stop at a one armed bandit on the “D” concourse. She waited until she was at
the “A” concourse waiting for her sister on an Alaska Air flight from Seattle…
Let the games begin…
Just past
midnight, we packed into the car… Three guesses as to where we headed… “The
Strip” And if it took you more than one second to guess that…
The route
went from the airport, past Motel 6, and McDonalds… This is Las Vegas… even
Motel 6 and McDonalds are in lights at this hour…
Ok, a
better route description follows.
Past the
Tropicana and MGM, a left the Statue of Liberty, past the Excalibur Castle,
Luxor and a U-Turn at the Laughing Jackalope for the first time.
Up the
strip
